Two-vehicle crash in Lee County leaves one person dead

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the crash occurred on U.S. 280, approximately 8 miles west of Auburn, in Lee County, just after 10 p.m. Saturday.

44-year-old Marcus Edwards, of Camp Hill, was fatally injured when his car left the roadway, struck a ditch, and then the rear-end of a tractor-trailer. After hitting the tractor-trailer, the car that Edwards was in immediately caught fire and was engulfed in flames.

Edwards was pronounced dead at the scene.

The tractor-trailer driven by 66-year-old Debbie Still, of Phenix City, was off the roadway at the time of collision. Still was not injured in the incident.

There is no further information at this time as ALEA continues to investigate the crash.
