MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – Qualifying is underway for the August 11 special primaries in four Alabama U.S. House districts.

The 1st, 2nd, 6th and 7th U.S. House districts are involved, which covers the entire Action 8 viewing area other than Tallapoosa and Lee counties in East Alabama.

The reason for the special primaries is that the district lines were changed by the Alabama Legislature, which means some voters are now in new districts.

While voters did cast ballots in these districts in yesterday’s primaries, those results will be thrown out in order to hold new primaries. The list of candidates may change from those primaries to the new special primaries.

Anyone who wants to run in these races has to act fast, because qualifying ends on Friday.
