Three Years Since Midland City Hostage Crisis

Today marks three years since the Midland City Hostage Crisis.

On this day in 2013, Jimmy Lee Dykes stormed Dale County Bus Driver- Charles Poland Junior’s bus. Dykes killed Poland and then held a five-year-old student hostage in a bunker for almost a week.
Authorities raided the bunker killing Dykes and rescuing the child.
Today, Dale County School leaders are hosting School Bus Driver Appreciation Day in honor of Poland.
