Summer weather this week- hot, humid with some showers, storms
The second week of June features routine summer weather across central and south Alabama. The sky remains partly to mostly cloudy Monday afternoon with high temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s. Isolated to widely scattered showers and storms may form, though model data suggests the better chance for rain may remain near and north of I-20 through Monday evening, mostly just north of our area. Monday night looks mostly cloudy with lows in the low 70s.
Tuesday looks partly to mostly cloudy with high temperatures in the low 90s. Isolated to widely scattered showers or storms form during the afternoon, and linger through at least the early evening. However, it looks like many locations remain dry. The sky may clear somewhat Tuesday night, with lows in the low 70s. Wednesday’s weather looks similar, but may be a bit more sunny than Monday and Tuesday. Some showers or storms form again during the afternoon.
Rain coverage looks lower late this week, with just stray to isolated showers or storms Thursday and Friday. Otherwise, expect a partly cloudy sky with high temperatures in the low 90s both days. Thanks to higher humidity this week, heat index values may reveal it feels closer to 100° during the afternoon hours. Rain coverage may increase again this weekend, with widely scattered afternoon/evening showers/storms. High temperatures remain in the low 90s both days.
