Typical June weather this weekend: Scattered storms, summer heat

Heavy rain and storms moved through central and south Alabama AGAIN Friday. Multiple flash flood warnings were issued throughout the day. Another 3″+ fell in some south Alabama locations on top of the 3″+ that fell Thursday. That caused flooding of some roads in at least the Troy and surrounding Pike county area. Fortunately, rain was tapering off at 7PM Friday. The flood watch for the rest of our area also expired at that time.

Friday night trends drier but remains mostly cloudy, warm, and humid with lows in the low 70s. While widespread flash flooding may not occur this weekend, scattered showers and storms Saturday and Sunday could produce a quick 1-2″ of rain. That may cause localized flooding due to the now saturated soils. Otherwise, the weather pattern looks a bit more routine for June this weekend, with high temperatures in the mid to upper 80s Saturday, near 90° Sunday.
