Pay It Forward: Curtis Browder of Montgomery
Curtis Browder of Montgomery lives by the motto ‘its better to give than receive.’ He gives his time, energy, and money into spreading the love of Jesus in our prisons.
He began a prison ministry nearly 60 years ago in Colorado. After moving to Alabama, he continued to spread the gospel to inmates in our prisons.
“I think its the greatest ministry in the world, because it says in the scripture, Jesus said in Matthew 25: 38, ‘when I was in prison, see Jesus said he was in prison, you came to see me. What a great ministry,” says Browder.
His nominator, James Whitson says Browder visited him in prison 26 years ago and has been his friend ever since.
We’re told Curtis also runs a food giveaway, does emergency storm relief outreach, and gives inmates Christmas presents out of his own pockets..
“I saw all the wonderful things he done. Feeding the homeless, to feeding the ones in prison. And he just can’t keep still,” says Whitson.
That’s why Stewart Vance with the Vance Law Firm is paying it forward to him.
Browder is described as an encourager, who lifts others up.
“He’s been a wonderful friend to me and I thank him for encouraging me,” says Whitson.
And it doesn’t take a genius to figure out what he plans to do with the $333.
“Well I’ll tell you what: The blessings he’s given me. The Bible says it’s more blessed to give than receive. So he blessed me. So God is going to bless him even more. And I’m going to turn this into a blessing,” says Browder.
