LOS ANGELES, Calif. (WAKA) – Tuskegee native and music superstar Lionel Richie has been released from a hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, according to a magazine report.

People magazine says Richie is back home in Los Angeles and “doing great.”

As Action 8 News has reported, Richie had been in ICU after checking himself into a hospital after performing in St. Louis on Saturday. Reports say he had slight dehydration, although he reportedly underwent heart tests.

Richie is 77 years old and has a vast music career, beginning with The Commodores in the 1970s before launching his solo career.

In 2023, Action 8 News caught up with Richie as he returned to Tuskegee to shoot clips for the hit ABC show “American Idol.”

We were also there in 2024, when Richie helped open Hello Park.
