CYNTHIA SMITH

In the almost three years since a Tuskegee University student was accidentally killed by gunshots at a party. The suspects arrested are still awaiting trial.

The mother of Bobby Smith is frustrated. Her son Bobby ‘BJ’ Smith was a Tuskegee University student, shot and killed in 2013 by stray gunshots at a block party. She made a trip to the Macon County courthouse from Atlanta, she met with the assistant DA for more than two hours wanting to know why the suspects in Smith’s death have yet to go on trial.

Cynthia Smith, mother of murdered Tuskegee University student said, “They are saying it is a backlog, it’s a lack of resources. I told my husband I wished I could quit my job so I could come and work for them for the next three or four years so we can get more resources.”

Smith says three suspects should be going to trial in connection with her son’s death. She is told the case could be on the April docket, if not then, then October- more than three years since her son’s death.
