CAMPAIGN 2026: Congressman Shomari Figures speaks to Action 8 News after winning U.S. House District 2 race
CAMPAIGN 2026 (WAKA) – A jubilant Congressman Shomari Figures celebrated re-election with his supporters in Montgomery tonight.
Figures, a Democrat, won a hotly-contested race that attracted a lot of spending following a change in the district lines earlier this year. When Figures first won in 2024, the lines favored a Democratic candidate. When the lines were revised earlier this year, it made the district a lot more competitive.
Figures defeated Republican challenger Rhett Marques of Enterprise and will return to Washington for a second two-year term.
