Police: Tallassee man arrested for identity theft following pizza purchase
MILLBROOK, Ala. (WAKA) – Millbrook police say a Tallassee man faces identity theft charges following a purchase at a pizza restaurant.
They say 26-year-old Justin Pack of Tallassee has been charged with identity theft in both Millbrook and in another case in Eclectic.
Millbrook police say they received a complaint from a resident who said she received a notification from her credit card company about a charge on Halloween to Papa John’s in Tallassee that she said was fraudulent.
Investigators say they got video footage and documentation from the restaurant and pinpointed Pack as the thief.
They say they also learned that Pack was also the subject of an identity theft investigation by the Eclectic Police Department.
Yesterday, Eclectic police got a search warrant for Pack’s home and executed the warrant with help of Millbrook police detectives, the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office and investigators with the 19th Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office. They say Pack was not at home at the time of the search warrant, but investigators say they found the Papa John’s order still in the home.
Pack was called by phone and turned himself in at the Eclectic Police Department, investigators said. When interviewed, Pack admitted to fraudulently utilizing the victim’s credit card, they said.
Pack has been booked into the Elmore County Jail on one count of identity theft concerning the Millbrook Police Department’s investigation. He was also charged with an additional count of identity theft pursuant in the Eclectic Police Department’s investigation, which involved an unrelated victim.
Pack remains in the Elmore County Jail under a $60,000 bond.
“Unfortunately, we see these types of cases becoming more and more common,” Millbrook Police Chief PK Johnson said. “We encourage the public to monitor their credit card and computer financial transactions closely, promptly reporting any unauthorized transactions to their local law enforcement officials.”
