Luverne Man Charged in North Carolina Rape Case

A Luverne man is facing charges in a 2008 North Carolina sexual assault case.
Joshua Wade Watson, 30, is charged with First Degree Rape, First Degree Sex Offense, and First Degree Kidnapping.
Police say the rape occurred in the a parking lot in the Fayetteville, North Carolina. According to the Fayetteville Police Department the case went cold after investigators were unable to identify the two suspects in the case.
The FPD Cold Case Sexual Assault unit recently reopened the case and a Watson and another suspect, who police say is now deceased, were identified as the suspects.
Police say DNA evidence linked them to crime. Watson is being held in the Crenshaw County, Alabama Jail under no bond. He is awaiting extradition back to the North Carolina.
