Authorities arrested William Randal Wambles of Brundidge Thursday, after observing him sharing obscene materials and his efforts to meet with someone he believed to be a teen in Troy.
Wambles is charged with 2 counts of transmitting obscene material to a child, 1 count of electronic solicitation of a child and 1 count of traveling to meet a child. Parents say this serves as a reminder to always be vigilant when it comes to their own child’s internet activity.
“It’s a lot of sex offenders out there. You never know who’s on those sites. Those types of people are on those sites watching and seeing what they’re posting,” says Sharon Scott.
Wambles is out on bond. If convicted he could face two to twenty years on each count of solicitation and transmitting obscene materials and 10 years to live for traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act.
