Taking Action Against Crime: Montgomery Co. Sheriff Home Checks

Summer time means many people are leaving for vacation, and that could make your home a prime target for burglars.
Â
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has a program to keep your property safe. You can sign up for home checks, and a deputy will stop and check your property and look for anything unusual or suspicious. Sheriff’s officials say the home check program has prevented burglaries in the past.
Â
“During our regular patrol checks, we drive up and we find a suspicious vehicle and he says he’s there to do maintenance. We collect his information, find out it doesn’t quite jive and come to find out they’d attempted to break into the house and we stopped it before they actually got into the house,” said Captain Jon Briggs.
Â
The program is free and open to Montgomery County residents. Just fill out the form and mail it to the sheriff’s office. It’s online here.
