Davis resigns from Alabama amid recruiting allegations
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AlabamaNews.Net) — A day after questions were raised of potentially improper recruiting techniques, Alabama assistant football coach Bo Davis abruptly resigned Friday morning.
Tide Head Coach Nick Saban confirming the move in a written statement shortly afterward.
“Bo Davis has submitted his letter of resignation. We appreciate all the contributions he made to the program and wish him and his family the very best in the future.”
Davis is leaving Alabama with a year remaining on his contract that reportedly would have paid him $475,00 annually.
Saban and Davis have a long history of working together, in fact, this was Davis’ second stint as a Saban assistant in Tuscaloosa.
Davis served under Saban as strength & conditioning coach at LSU, a similar capacity during Saban’s short-lived reign with the Miami Dolphins, and followed Saban to Tuscaloosa in 2007.
Davis returned to Alabama in 2014 after serving three years as the defensive line coach with the Texas Longhorns.
