One Man Dead After Armed Robbery in Pike County

Police say the incident happened at a home on County Road 3016 in the Springhill Community. Officers say 3 men entered a home after the homeowner answered.

Officers say shots were fired during a struggle with a gun. The suspects ran away after the homeowner managed to get the gun. But one of them had already been shot. Police say that suspect shot was 21-year-old Javonte King. His body was found about 200 yards away from where the robbery happened. The 2 other suspects 23-year-old Anthony Jerome Starks and 21-year-old Davaris Mendenhall are in custody and charge with first degree robbery.

“The investigation is on-going. We do anticipate further charges and possibly murder charge will be forthcoming and also there may be an additional arrest,” says Pike County Sheriff Russell Thomas.

Starks is being held on a bond of $500,000. Mendenhall is being held without a bond.
Officers also arrested 33-year-old Tyiesha Pollard for a probation violation.
She was in the company of Mendenhall and Starks when Troy Police located them at Brantley Mobile Home Park in Troy.
