Filming for ‘Selma’ Movie Underway this Week in Selma

From the West Alabama Newsroom–   Filming for the movie ‘Selma’ is underway. Movie crews will be in Selma shooting scenes for the movie until Thursday.

Hollywood has taken over part of the downtown area — and the Edmund Pettus Bridge has been shut down for filming.

The movie is about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his role in the Selma Voting Rights Movement.

Crews are shooting scenes at several locations around the city — and are considering some others.

“Its just so exciting. We’ve seen lots of trucks have been going by, the movie trucks, they’ve had these old timey cars from the 1960s, its brought a lot of people to town so its really an exciting time for Selma,” said Selma Businesswoman Doris Butler Truax.

Oprah Winfrey is producing the movie along with Brad Pitt. She also has a role in the film.
