Montgomery Celebrates the 4th of July
The city of Montgomery celebrated the Fourth of July Monday night with a big party at Riverfront Park.

People took in the sights and sounds of the celebration from the park and boats on the Alabama River.
Vivian Turner brought her family to the event and says it was a great time.
“I’m really enjoying it,” she said, “I’m enjoying all of the festivities, all the food vendors, just being able to look out at the river and it’s just a wonderful event.”
Ken Reynolds with the City of Montgomery says these types of events make his job more rewarding.
“My favorite thing is just the reaction of the crowd, just to be able to watch folks come out and enjoy this really unique venue,” he shared, “we’re right here on the bend of the river and I don’t think there’s a better place in the state of Alabama to have an event like what we’re doing here today.”
On top of the fun, this event allowed business owners and vendors to cater to customers outside of their stores. Gus Katechias, owner of Chris’ Hot Dogs, says this is a great marketing tool for his business.
“At the restaurant you only see people who come into your restaurant,” he shared, “this is a way to get out and reach out and touch them.”
He says these types of events are what bring more and more people downtown.
This year’s celebration might be over but event organizers say they’re already getting ready to start planning next year’s event.
