Chileans Spend Month at Troy University Learning English

Nine Chileans are about to end their stay in Troy, after spending a month learning English.Â
Â
This is the first year of the program after a U.S. government official reached out to Troy University to create it.Â
Â
The Chileans are mostly administrators and teachers in Troy to learn a little bit of English and also about southern culture.
Â
The nine didn’t know each other before starting the program.Â
Â
They spent four hours a day in class and then took field trips to places like Montgomery and Atlanta on the weekends.Â
Â
Robert Klein, an ESL Instructor said, “I also just enjoyed interacting with them. And like I said they are not 18 year olds so they do have a little bit of worldly wisdom and it was interesting. I learned a lot from them, their culture, their language.”
Â
Ricardo Cardenas said, “The teachers- Christian, Robert are very very good teachers. Very passionate. And we are very happy because they explain, and explain, and explain.”
Â
The University hopes to make this an annual program, possibly even doing it twice a year.Â
