Golden Tigers’ XC releases 2016 schedule
TUSKEGEE, Ala. (goldentigersports.com) Tuskegee head cross country coach Edward Colvin released the 2016 cross country schedules Wednesday afternoon, featuring six meets before the conference championships.
The teams will open the season September 2 on the road in the Strut’s Season Opener, hosted by Jacksonville State. It will be the second consecutive year that the Golden Tigers have opened the season in Oxford (Ala.).
The following week, the teams will hit the road for the first of two meets in Carrollton (Ga.). They will participate in the UWG Home Opener on September 9 with both teams running a 5k beginning at 5:00 pm (est). It will be also be the second consecutive year that Tuskegee has traveled to West Georgia for the second meet of the season.
After running for the first five weeks of the season last year, Colvin changed things up this season and is taking a week off during the third week of the season. After the week off, the Golden Tigers will travel to Ft. Benning (Ga.) for the second consecutive year to participate in the Cougar Classic – the first of five consecutive weeks to close out the season.
Tuskegee then travels to SCAD-Atlanta for the Atlanta Invitational to be run in Newnan (Ga.) September 30 to close the month. They open the month of October on the road at West Georgia for the second time, with the men running an 8k and the women a 6k on October 7.
The final regular season meet of the season takes place in Dothan (Ala.) where the Golden Tigers will take part in the Wiregrass Invitational, hosted by Troy University. The races will be a 5k for the women and an 8k for the men on October 15.
The season concludes with the SIAC Championships slated for October 21.
