Golden Tigers finish practice prior to storms
TUSKEGEE, Ala. (goldentigersports.com) — The Tuskegee University football team wrapped up its second day of fall camp Friday evening, minutes before showers entered the area.
The team was able to implement some new things into practice they were unable to yesterday, all while keeping an eye on conditioning with the season just weeks away.
The Golden Tigers worked individually with their coaches for the majority of practice, coming together for some work in the passing game. After circuit training and individual work, the team worked on special teams with their new players working in a pair of kickers and snapper.
“I think we got some things accomplished,” Tuskegee head coach Willie Slater said. “We still have some younger guys that really don’t understand what it takes to play college football yet. They are learning how to push themselves, but right now the head coach is not very pleased. That is only natural for this time of practice.”
The team, still in shorts on day two, also came together for team work before ending the practice with their conditioning.
“I saw some good things out of some young people,” Slater said. “All I am asking for now is consistency.”
Tuskegee will continue fall camp until the beginning of school on August 18, gearing up for the season opener on the road at Clark Atlanta. Kick off time for the season opener is 7 pm (eastern) and the game will be carried on the American Sports Network.
