Montgomery Churches Come Together To Help Flood Victims
Destiny and Journey churches are teaming up to collect donations for the victims of the Louisiana floods.
Wal-Mart Supercenter in Prattville joined with the two churches to pack an entire 18 wheeler to help victims in need in the Baton Rouge area.
“To see people from all walks of life, different churches, different denominations, different classes of people, different ethnic groups, different social economical classes, come together for one cause, for one reason, for one purpose is just heart wrenching,” said Troy Dooley, Store Manager at Prattville Wal-Mart.
Thousands of families are looking for any help they can get as they work to reclaim their homes from the flood damage. Some of the cash donations will be converted into gift cards for people in need of fuel.
“They deserve every bit of this food, every bit of these donations because they are human beings, they have a need, and we as a civilized society, as Christians, need to meet that need,” said Judy Clark, volunteer and member of Journey Church.
The truck is going to pull out at the end of this weekend. Organizers hope to have about 30 pallets of merchandise to take to Louisiana.
