Uniontown Residents File Complaint About Stinky Cheese Plant

From the West Alabama Newsroom–  The foul odor from a cheese plant in Uniontown has residents crying out to the state for help.

Uniontown residents have been complaining about the foul smelling fumes coming from the Southeastern Cheese plant for years.

They say stench continues to get worse over time — and they want something done about.

“Peoples are getting sick. I know I get nauseated,” said Shirley Turner. “I just think by now we shouldn’t be having this smell.”

“Sometime I have to leave off my back porch and go in the house,” said Samuel Lee Woods.

They say they’ve filed a complaint with Alabama Department of Environmental Management — outlining their concerns.
