Spartans Coach Familiar With No. 5 Auburn, SEC

San Jose State coach Ron Caragher has tasted both life in the Southeastern Conference and facing a highly ranked Auburn team at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
The former Kentucky assistant leads the Spartans (1-0) against the fifth-ranked Tigers (1-0) on Saturday night hoping for better results this time.
The Wildcats fell 42-10 to a No. 3 Auburn team that was on its way to a 14-0 season 10 years ago. That 2004 Auburn team will coincidentally be honored before the game.
Caragher says: “Football in the SEC, it’s bigger than the sport. It’s part of the culture.”
San Jose State is a 31-point underdog on his return trip against the defending SEC champions. Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall will make his first start of the season after a two-quarter suspension in the opener.
