Are you Registered to Vote?

Alabama may make history this Election Day as registered voters are at an all-time high.

As the candidates hit the homestretch of their campaigns, voters in Alabama get ready to head to the polls in record numbers.

“On January 19, 2015, we had 2.2 million registered voters. Last week, we went over 3.3 million registered voters in the first time in the history of the state,” said Sec. of State John Merrill.

Merrill says the poll workers will be equipped to handle the crowd on Election Day.

“This is going to be a big election, so they have ordered the appropriate number of ballots, requested the appropriate number of poll watchers and poll workers so they will be prepared with their supervisors to take care of the administrative efforts at the local level,” said Merrill.

As Alabama gets ready for a record Election Day, Merrill assures us everything will run smoothly across the state.

“Our chief election officials in each of the 67 counties have everything under control…we are very confident they are prepared with the ballots they have in their possession and we’re very confident that we will come off without a hitch when people go to vote on November 8th,” said Merrill.
