Improving Weather Today, Cold Blast on the Way
The rain and storms will come to an end from west to east across the state during the morning hours. We could see some sunshine during the afternoon, but it does look like the clouds hang around much of the state, highs will be in the lower to mid 60s. Wednesday, the day will be cool and dry, with a mix of sun and clouds. Wednesday’s high will be in the mid 60s.
ARCTIC AIR ARRIVES: An Arctic front will blow through Alabama Thursday. Moisture will be limited, but some light rain could accompany the front as a thin band of showers. After the front passes, strong north winds will kick in and usher in the coldest air so far this season. We will have a hard time getting past the low 50s Thursday afternoon, and a north wind of 15-30 mph will make it feel colder. By Friday morning we should reach the low mid 20s and during the day Friday we won’t get out of the mid 40s despite sunshine in full supply.
FRIGID START TO WEEKEND: Saturday should be the coldest morning this round as we are expecting lows between 22 and 27 degrees across South/Central Alabama. By the afternoon, temperatures will begin to moderate as lower 50s are expected with more sunshine than clouds. Temperatures will continue an upward trend Saturday night with only lower 30s expected. Clouds will be increasing on Sunday and a shower or two will be possible ahead of our next storm system that arrives early next week. Highs Sunday will be in the 60s.
