10-Year-Old Child Killed in Single Vehicle Crash

A single-vehicle crash at 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 11, has claimed the life of a Nashville child and injured six others.

The 10-year-old child was killed when the 2006 Dodge Durango SUV, in which she was a passenger, ran off the road and overturned in the median.

The child, who was not using a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene by Butler County Coroner Wayne Garlock.

The driver and five other passengers were transported to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries.

The crash occurred on Interstate 65 two miles south of Georgiana, at the 106.50 mile marker.

Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
