Ballots in Tight Alabama House Race Questioned

OZARK, Ala. (AP) – A voting error in one precinct may have caused voters to cast incorrect ballots in the close Alabama House District 89 race.
The issue has arisen at the Level Plains Community Center, which has voters from House Districts 89 and 93. Dale County Probate Judge Sharon Michalic said voters who live in District 89 may have received District 93 ballots.
Unofficial election results show Republican incumbent Alan Boothe leading Democratic challenger Joel Lee Williams by 83 votes. The secretary of state will certify election results Nov. 24. Williams has 20 days to contest the results.
Williams said he believes the problem was unintentional and he has not decided what to do.
The problem doesn’t involve enough ballots to affect House District 93, where Republican incumbent Steve Clouse won big.
