Bullock County leaders are making sure their residents are ready for the cold.

The EMA director’s been on the move much of the day passing out blankets to the elderly and the needy.

He’s also made sure the basement of the courthouse is ready to open up at 7 p.m. as a warming center. And 150 blankets were donated by the Mid-Alabama Coalition for the Homeless out of Montgomery.

“We are a poor county and we have limited resources but with the help of the community and state, people as a whole giving us the tools that we need to keep the elderly warm, we truly appreciate it,” Director Roderick Clark said.

The blankets will be passed out in the basement of the courthouse everyday from 12 to 2 p.m. except on Fridays, until they run out.
