George McDonald is the West Alabama Newsroom reporter for WAKA Action 8 News. He is based in Selma and covers Dallas, Lowndes, Marengo, Perry and Wilcox counties.
George began reporting for us in June 2005. HeĀ arrived in Alabama from WTOK in Meridian, Mississippi, where he worked as a reporter/photographer. He began his career in television news at WJTV in Jackson, Mississippi, where he was an editor.
George enjoys reporting because he says youāre always learning things you might not otherwise learn, meeting people you wouldnāt otherwise meet and doing things you might not otherwise do, but says the best thing about being a reporter is the potential to have a positive impact in the lives of others.
A native of Chicago (South Side!), George is an alumnus of Tougaloo College and a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. When heās not working, George enjoys spending quality time with his family.
