Star-crossed tight end Jake Butt retires from NFL

Tight end Jake Butt has retired from the NFL as he acknowledged he’d lost the passion for the game he loves but which cost him so much. Butt underwent six knee operations, three for torn ACLs. Each required a cleanup procedure that delayed his return to the football field. Butt signed a one-year deal with the Bears last month after four  years in Denver. He says he finally considers himself among football’s fortunate because he leaves the game with his health and on his terms.

eBay launches price guide, portfolios for trading cards

Global commerce leader eBay is launching a price guide and collection tools to make it easier for trading card enthusiasts to buy and sell cards on the site. The tools also give consumers the ability to monitor real-time market valuation changes in their collections and to list items directly from those portfolios. During the beta launch, the collection tool will support baseball, basketball, football, golf, ice hockey, soccer, Magic the Gathering,  Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh! cards.
