The biggest competition is at quarterback, where Lock is vying for the starting job with veteran Teddy Bridgewater. Coach Vic Fangio plans to split snaps evenly and give both quarterbacks a start in the preseason before deciding which one will lead the team in 2021. Atwater came up biggest in the two biggest games of his career. Former Denver Broncos coach Mike Shanahan called Atwater the anchor of his defense and the star of the franchise’s back-to-back Super Bowl triumphs in the late 1990s. John Elway said the quarterback-turned safety redefined the position because he was super-sized at 6-foot-3 and nearly 230 pounds but quick and strong. Atwater goes into the Hall of Fame as a member of the class of 2020.
