Colorado Avalanche star Mikko Rantanen has been added to the NHL’s COVID-19 protocols list. He joins two other players on the list: goaltender Phillip Grubauer and winger Joonis Donskoi. The Avalanche have been shut down since last week because of three players on the COVID-19 list. Rookie defenseman Bo Byram came off the COVID-19 list Monday. Canceled combine a bummer but invite still a golden ticket

The NFL scouting combine has become a capstone to many a college football career. But this year’s gathering was canceled over COVID-19 concerns. That left prospects with the pro days on their campuses to show off for scouts. Even though the combine didn’t happen this year an invitation to the gathering was still considered a golden ticket for the 323 players who were “invited” to the reimagined combine that was based on 103 pro days spread across six weeks this spring.

Denver Nuggets sign veteran Austin Rivers to 10-day contract

The Denver Nuggets have bolstered their injury-depleted point guard ranks by signing veteran Austin Rivers to a 10-day contract. The Nuggets lost star Jamal Murray to a torn ACL in his left knee last week and Monte Morris injured his left hamstring Friday night. Coach Michael Malone says Morris will miss multiple games. Rivers brings a 9.1-point career scoring average and plenty of playoff experience to the Nuggets. He is expected to be available when Denver visits Portland on Wednesday night.
