New general manager George Paton’s first NFL draft comes with the Denver Broncos at a crossroads. Do they stick with third-year quarterback Drew Lock? Or do they move up from the ninth overall pick to try to grab one of this year’s crop of quarterbacks? John Elway’s successor and Rick Spielman’s longtime protégé can afford to be patient as he just signed a six-year deal. But coach Vic Fangio and offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur are essentially on one-year prove-it deals and will want draft picks who can help them win right away.
