McIlroy’s round fell apart after an eagle at No. 4 followed by a birdie at No. 5, as he shot 42 in his back nine in glorious conditions at Wentworth.

One over for his round arriving at the 17th tee, he pulled his drive and wound up making a double-bogey 7. Another wayward drive led to a bogey at the 18th and he didn’t talk to reporters after his

Chelsea has conceded on average more than two goals a game under new manager Frank Lampard this season, and the team’s fragile defense will be tested this weekend by the most devastating front three in the Premier League.

Liverpool arrives at Stamford Bridge on a run of five straight wins to open the campaign, giving it a five-point lead — the biggest cushion after five games in Premier League history.

With its usually solid defense keeping only one clean sheet so far, Liverpool is relying on the free-scoring

by Associated Press

SAN DIEGO (AP) — One of the first things Tony Hawk was looking forward to doing when he arrived in Shanghai for his debut as commentator for the Vans Park Series was to grab a skateboard and do some prep work.

“Skating the courses and connecting with the competitors directly in order to have better insight when the competition actually starts,” Hawk said in an email exchange.

He’ll be at the microphone when Vans Park Series starts its fourth year of competition this weekend, showcasing the world’s best park terrain skateboarders a year before the sport makes its Olympic debut. Hawk will join

Baltimore asked Cohen to put the matter on hold until the New

Point of Honor fulfills favorite role, wins Black-Eyed Susan

by Associated Press

BALTIMORE (AP) — Point of Honor took charge with a burst from the outside and held off Ulele to win the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes on Friday.

Fulfilling her role as the favorite, Point of Honor rallied marvelously for jockey Javier Castellano and prevailed in a duel to the wire by a half-length.

Point of Honor paid $7.80, $4.60 and $3.20 in this Grade 2 race for 3-year-old fillies. It was her third win in four career races.

With jockey Irad Ortiz aboard, Cookie Dough bolted from the gate and led for much of the race before falling behind the fast-closing Point of Honor and Ulele.

Congrats Gal faltered in the upper stretch of the Miss Preakness Stakes in 83-degree heat and was eased to the finish line.

The Florida-bred 3-year-old was running her sixth career race. She came in last in the eighth race and fell to the dirt about 100 yards past the finish line.

Clearly distraught, Congrats Gal jockey Trevor McCarthy said the filly felt hot walking on the track before the race. As a medical team rushed to the scene,

Woods struggles in second round

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (AP) — Tiger Woods has run into trouble in his attempt at a 16th major championship. In fact, he is closer to missing the cut than he is to leader Brooks Koepka (KEHP’-kuh) in the second round of the PGA Championship.

Woods started the day at 2 over and has struggled to improve on that.

He hit his very first shot into the gallery to the left of the No. 1 fairway. His approach went into the bunker, but he managed to get up and down from 5 feet to save par. Another errant tee shot on No. 2 left him with a bogey. He missed the

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The Latest on an investigation into a former Ohio State team doctor (all times local):

An Ohio State University official says it’s not clear whether anyone ever went to authorities to report a former doctor now accused of sexually abusing more than 150 male students.

Findings from a yearlong investigation released Friday say numerous university personnel knew about complaints of abuse that continued nearly 20 years into the late 1990s.

School Provost Bruce McPheron says the report doesn’t address whether anyone went to law enforcement at the time or was
