A mission transition ceremony has been held at Maxwell Air Force Base as to welcome the new MH-139 Grey Wolf helicopter.
Maxwell Air Force Base is welcoming the arrival of the first of what’s expected to be many MH-139 Grey Wolf helicopters to the base.
The new Grey Wolf helicopter training unit has now been officially activated at Maxwell Air Force Base.
There are only six of the MH-139 helicopters in existence right now. Two will arrive in the Capitol City in March or April of 2024.
The ceremony Saturday was of special importance since the wing is transitioning to a new mission.
The 908th is Alabama’s only Air Force Reserve Wing. The unit operates a fleet of nine C-130H Hercules cargo aircraft also known as the “Workhorse of the Air Force.” Monday the troops that had been deployed for almost 5 months in southwest Asia, have returned to Maxwell air force base.
