Georgiana Police Cracking Down On Drugs

The fight against drugs intensifies in one south alabama county. Georgiana Police say they are cracking down. Georgiana police say the number of drug arrests are up in the last month. So they’re trying to be more visible. And we’ve got exclusive video to show you It could be working.
CBS 8 has exclusive video of Georgiana police arresting Farouk ZOO-BY-DE Zoubiedi, who is charged with illegal possession of prescription drugs and drug paraphernalia.
“As you seen first hand right there this is the example we’re talking about here. Going back again we have zero tolerance for drug activity in our area.” Says David Scruggs, Georgiana’s Police Chief
Zero tolerance for not only prescription drugs but also crack, cocaine, meth, Marijuana, and steroids. These drugs Georgiana Police found in another car is just a small sample of what they’ve collected in the past month.
“There are several neighborhoods that we’re watching that we know there are suppliers there supplying this stuff.” Says Chief David Scruggs.

It’s why Georgiana Police say they’re using undercover drug officers, and patrolling neighborhoods to try and limit drug use in the area, and residents are noticing.
“We’ve had several of the people in the neighborhoods talking about the drugs in the area in their neighborhoods. We cant just go to the door of the house and say hey give me your dope we cant do that.” Says Chief Scruggs.
Residents say they’re happy police are more visible in the area
So whether you’re carrying perscribed medication that doesn’t belong to you, or illegal drugs. Georgiana Police say its only a matter of time before they get you.
