20 Barrel Moonshine Still Destroyed in Pike Co.

A still capable of producing 140 gallons of illegal moonshine a week is destroyed in Pike County.

The still was found off of Gardner Bassett Road in Pike County.

The department of conservation and Pike County sheriff’s office say they found the 20 barrels after a joint investigation.

They called in the ABC Board’s moonshine tas kforce to help out.

The still could produce more than $4,000 dollars of illegal shine a week.

“as you noticed coming in you come by several residence. And there’s only one way in and one way out because it’s so thick here. So we are going to go ahead and destroy it. And there are going to be some follow up on the sugar and the wheat who purchased it and where it was purchased, there are some things that we will investigate further,” said Pike County Sheriff Russell Thomas.

No arrests have been made so far.

What’s left of the still will be loaned to a community theater in Brundidge.
