MPD Charges a Driver with Felony DUI and 2 Counts of Reckless Murder

felony DUI, felony leaving the scene of an accident and two counts of reckless murder inÂ
Â
its investigation of a fatal traffic crash that occurred at about 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, Nov.Â
Â
27. MPD charged Marquis Coleman, 40, of Montgomery in connection with the deaths ofÂ
Â
Loubertha Phyfier, 78 and Marion Lewis, 62 both of Montgomery.Â
Â
Montgomery Police and Fire Medics responded to the scene of a two-vehicle crash,Â
Â
at the intersection of Rosa Parks Avenue and West Edgemont Avenue. MPD’s initialÂ
Â
investigation indicates a 2007 Mazda 6 driven by Coleman was south bound onÂ
Â
Rosa Parks ran the stop sign, colliding with a 2001 Infiniti I30 beginning to cross theÂ
Â
intersection east on West Edgemont. The driver of the Infinity was transported to a localÂ
Â
hospital by POV with minor injuries. Four occupants of the Infiniti were transportedÂ
Â
to local hospitals, two with non-life threatening injuries and two with life threateningÂ
Â
injuries. Both with life-threatening injuries were later pronounced dead. Coleman wasÂ
Â
transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Following his arrest, Coleman wasÂ
Â
transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility.
