Items discussed Tuesday by TSA officials may seem like your common everyday items but they say they could pose danger to others around you on flights.
“From credit card knives, to pocket knives, to concealed knives.”
Those are just a few of the things TSA leaders say you will have to leave at home before you travel.
“Probably the most common thing we see at the checkpoint are liquid gels and aerosols over the 311 rule and by 311 I mean you’re allowed to have 3.4 ounce liquids in a one quart size bag-one per person,” says Mark Howell.
The second most common item seen are different variations of knives.
“Most of these items aren’t going to get you into a lot of hot water. It’s those dangerous and those illegal items that are going to get you into trouble,” says Howell.
He says guns will be confiscated and it could get you a penalty from the TSA-a penalty that could cost you as much as $7500.
“They just need to be more aware of what they’re packing and leave it behind-the weapon at home or either in the car,” says Chip Gentry.
“Make sure you have it in your check bag. You need to have it in a hard sided case with padding on the inside. Make sure the firearm is unloaded with the ammunition stored separately in a steady state-in its original box or other kind of box.
Officials say planning ahead and packing properly eases the screening process and when in doubt of an item to leave it out of your bag.
