annalabamalegislature.jpgThe Alabama House of Representatives is expected to vote on a lean General Fund budget that Gov. Robert Bentley has already threatened to veto over Medicaid funding.

Representatives will debate the budget Tuesday afternoon on the House floor.

The spending plan is $85 million short of the amount Bentley says is needed to adequately fund Medicaid and continue a planned transition to managed care next year.

Black lawmakers have also planned to filibuster the budget bill.

Republican legislative leaders say there is not an appetite to raise taxes, or cut other agencies, for the sake of Medicaid.

Bentley has hinted that he might bring lawmakers back in special session unless they boost Medicaid funding.
