Retin Obasohan Picks up a Pair of All-District Honors

Crimson Tide senior named to USBWA and NABC All-District teams

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama men’s basketball senior guard Retin Obasohan added two more awards to his growing list of honors following the 2015-16 season. The United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) named Obasohan first team all-district, while the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) selected him to its all-district second team.

Obasohan is the first Crimson Tide player to earn the honors since Trevor Releford was selected by both organizations in 2014.

Obasohan, who was named the Southeastern Conference Men’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year as well as a member of the SEC First Team and All-Defensive team earlier this month, lead the Tide with 17.6 points per game and finished with 14 games of 20 or more points on the season. He also topped the team in steals per game (1.4), field goals made (193) and attempted (410) and free throws made (146) and attempted (209).

Obasohan stepped up his played during the conference season as he became the first Alabama player to average over 20 points per game in league play since the 1985-86 season (20.6 ppg).

The Antwerp, Belgium, native finished his career with 1,176 points to rank 40th in school-history. His 580 points this season rank 12th all-time among UA players for single-season scoring.

The all-district teams are chosen from the rosters of the NCAA D-I teams from Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Florida.
