Tuskegee netters prep for top-ranked BYU-Hawaii Wednesday
TUSKEGEE, Ala (goldentigersports.com) – The Tuskegee University women’s tennis team puts their 11-match winning streak on the line Wednesday morning when they host top-ranked BYU-Hawaii at the PepsiCo Tennis Courts.
Tuskegee (12-3, 11-1 SIAC) has not lost since February 25 against Benedict and has won 12 of their last 13 matches. The Lady Golden Tigers are led in singles play by Navilla Paul with a perfect 9-0 record, including 3-0 at number five singles. Taylor Wilson has posted a 7-2 record in singles play, including 5-1 at number six singles.
Monica Thomas has a 7-3 record in singles play, including 6-1 at number two singles. Kimberly Bowen is 7-1 in singles this season, including 4-0 at number five singles.
The doubles teams for Tuskegee have combined to go 35-11 this season.
During their 11-match winning streak, Tuskegee has only lost one point and that was to Fort Valley State back on February 26.
Meanwhile, BYU-Hawaii (12-0) has not lost since dropping a match to Barry University in the NCAA Tournament May 15. The Seasiders have won 29 of their last 30 matches dating back to last season, and have won all six of their matches played stateside this season.
During their 12-match winning streak, BYU-Hawaii has lost just three points. Those three points came in a 6-3 victory over 25th-ranked Academy of Art back on March 24.
The match is scheduled to begin at 10 am.
