Governor Kay Ivey traveled to Demopolis for a special ceremony Thursday morning and a campus tour of the Alabama School of Healthcare Sciences.

School officials say it’ll serve as a lasting testament to Governor Ivey’s legacy — and her unwavering commitment to rural West Alabama.

Ivey addressed the school’s inaugural class during the ceremony.

Seventy-five students from all over the state — are currently attending classes at UWA.

“The Alabama School of Healthcare Sciences is our state’s newest residential high school dedicated to building the next generation of healthcare leaders,” said Ivey.

“You’re the first to blaze this new trail and leave your mark of success for generations who will follow.”
