Summer-Like Weather Pattern

FOR TOMORROW: Most of Monday will be dry, but our winds will have more of a southerly component to them and that will allow moisture levels to increase. We will notice that by increasing clouds across the area as well. It will be another warm day, with mid 80s forecast for South-Central Alabama. A few showers may be possible heading into Monday night.
TRANSIT OF MERCURY: On Monday morning, May 9th, Mercury will pass directly between Earth and the sun, producing a rare transit visible from the Americas, Europe, Africa and parts of Asia.
TUESDAY-FRIDAY: Northwesterly flow from the weekend, will have given way to more of a southwesterly flow which means a very summer-like pattern will be in place across the state; meaning we are going to be dealing with very warm temperatures and the daily threat of scattered showers and storms. Temperatures at night will be in those soothing 60s, while afternoon highs will be in the 80s. We are going to have moist air in place and in the upper-levels, several features will move across the state, which enhance uplift. Add that with daytime heating and we are going to see scattered showers and storms across the state. No all day rains, but do know that you will have to dodge some rain from time to time each day this week. Severe weather is not expected, but we could see a strong storm or two, with gusty winds, small hail, and of course frequent lightning.
WEEKEND SNEAK PEEK: Another area of high pressure builds in west of the state and that will once again allow northwesterly flow to develop over the state. This flow should allow for the moisture to be pushed back south and drier air to return. As of now, we are going to go with a forecast of mainly sunny conditions next weekend, with seasonal temperatures. Rain does not look to be a threat with the change in air flow over the state.
