Greenville PD on House Watch
Even in the summer months, there’s always work for the Greenville Police to do. Many families take a vacation when the whether starts getting warmer, and the officers on patrol are going to do what they can to keep your home safe while you play.
“It’s not a big problem we have in this area, where people will break in residences when they’re on vacation,” says Chief Investigator Justin Lovvorn. “But it’s always a possibility. If they know what they’re doing and they do it quick enough, they can be in and out before the alarm even has us responding.”
Greenville Police have been offering the House Watch service for years. With a simple phone call to the police department, you can make sure your property and home will be safe while you take some time away. At random times during your trip, an officer will come to your home and make sure doors and windows are shut, gates are latched, and all exterior lights are working.
“If there’s anything specific about your residence that we need to know about, maybe a certain area that’s more vulnerable than others, maybe something important that you want us to take a special look at while you’re gone, then we can do that,” says Lovvorn.
Lovvorn and the other officers say the best way to keep your home safe is to make sure all doors and windows are securely shut and locked before heading on your trip. But Lovvorn and his team are always there to offer peace of mind.
“We always want to be able to provide that service to the people who live there, to have a little more comfort, a little more security,” he adds. “To be able to relax when they are away. To know that someone is watching their property.”
To sign up for the House Watch service, you can call the Greenville Police Department at (334) 382-7461 and ask for the Captain of Patrol.
