Auburn football barometer: What former Tigers expect of season ahead
Former Auburn football players at the Montgomery Auburn Club's 19th annual scholarship golf tournament gave their opinions on the current state of the Tiger football program.
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AlabamaNews.Net)— Auburn football is a program undergoing change like bringing in a new defensive coordinator in Kevin Steele and a starting quarterback that right now has yet to be decided.
But what do former Tigers think of the current state of the team?
“I’m excited to see what the defense is going to do. I think we’ve got a good group of guys over there,” Chris Todd, former Tiger quarterback said. “I think Coach is doing a good job with the defensive side of the ball, and offensively we’ve got some weapons.”
The recent news of Gus Malzahn’s contract extension is raising a few eyebrows, but former defensive end Bret Eddins thinks it was the right move.
“He’s a great coach. He’s a great guy. I think he’s going to make some great adjustments coming in to the season.”
And as for how the season will go, expectations are high as always.
“National Championship,.” Eddins said. “Why not? Undefeated and National Championship.”
