Pay Delay Affects 4600 MPS Employees

Wednesday was payday for employees of Montgomery Public Schools but as of Wednesday night, thousands had not received their paychecks.

The school system says that a human error caused the delay in paychecks that affected around 4600 employees.

Tom Salter, with the school system says they have identified what caused the problem.

“The problem has been fixed,” he explained, “and we’ve worked to ensure that it doesn’t happen again.”

He says they are working closely with employees.  The superintendent also sent an email to employees Wednesday.

In that email she apologized for the delay and said they are asking for banks to waive any overdraft fees that may be caused by the paycheck delay.

Salter says that all employees should be paid by September 2nd. annmontgomerypublicschools.jpg
