Tuskegee’s Higgins earns top 10 finish at UWG opener
CARROLLTON, Ga. (goldentigersports.com) — Frederic Higgins finished in the top 10 individually, pacing the Tuskegee University cross country team to a third place finish Friday night at the UWG Season Opener.
Higgins finished eighth overall with a time of 19:02.66, finishing just three seconds from seventh place and nearly 23 seconds from sixth overall in the race.
Austin Henderson finished 11th overall with a time of 19:17.84 – just .80 seconds from a top 10 finish – while teammate Keenan Brown finished 12th overall in a time of 19:30.19. David Dixon finished just outside the top 20, crossing the line 18th in a time 20:53.61.
Josh Gaston (21:07.25), Victor Hinton (22:28.57) and Ayinde Chism (23:25.33) rounded out the runners for the Golden Tigers.
Tuskegee finished third overall with 69 points, finishing behind Point (48) and West Georgia (28) in the team standings.
The team will have week off next week to rest after two consecutive weeks, before returning to run five consecutive weeks.
