AUM cross country places 8th in Falcon Classic
MONTEVALLO, Ala. (aumathletics.com) —– Behind a second-place showing from senior HollyAnn Goble, the Auburn Montgomery women’s cross country team finished eighth at the Falcon Classic, hosted by the University of Montevallo, Saturday.
INDIVIDUAL FINISHES
• With a time of 21:58.78, Goble shattered the previous 6K school record by better than three minutes.
• For the second consecutive meet, Leah Bassow finished second for the Warhawks, posting a time of 23:21.38 to finish 21st. Bassow’s time would have also been a new school record.
• Tanishya Jones was the third Warhawk to finish, recording a time of 25:11.32 to finish 65th in the 117-runner field.
• Brooke Schultz tallied a time of 26:30.71 and finished 87th.
• Ansley Story finished shortly behind Schultz with a time of 26:48.04. The time was good for 93rd in the field.
• Kelly Dawson recorded a time of 27:39.18 to finish 101st.
• Katelynn Burns posted a time of 28:33.75 and finished 107th.
TEAM FINISHES
• Queens University took home top team honors with 58 points.
• Lee was second with 76 points.
- Montevallo was third, finishing just two points behind the Lady Flames with 78 points.
- The Warhawks collected 217 points and finished ahead of Division II institutions Georgia College and State University, Mars Hill and Young Harris.
NOTES
• The previous 6K school record was set by Katherine Toy at the Watson Ford Invitational on Oct. 4, 2013, when she finished with a time of 25:10.89.
- Corinne Kule of Queens University was the top finisher in the meet with a time of 21:43.32.
UP NEXT
• The women will return to action next Saturday, Sept. 24, by participating in the Gulf Coast Stampede, hosted by the University of West Florida. The meet is slated to begin at 7:30 a.m.
