Serial kidnapper, sex offender sentenced to 51 years
A convicted sex offender who kidnapped several women in Selma has been sentenced to 51 years in prison.
54-year-old Daniel Emerson, of Selma, was convicted in December on two counts of second-degree kidnapping and one of unlawful imprisonment.
Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson says authorities connected Emerson to attacks on three women.
He was sentenced Wednesday to 25 years on each of the kidnapping charges and one year for unlawful imprisonment.
At the time of his arrest, Emerson was free on bond from Hale County for a similar sexual assault case.
Emerson also served 20 years for a sexual assault case in Vermont.
Jackson says no woman was safe with Emerson “lurking around, driving, cruising and doing his thing. We’re glad to get him off the street.”
